
The Canto Sentimento String Quartet is made up of four string players studying at the University of Ottawa, and embarking on their career as professional musicians. All have been performing for many years, playing in orchestras and strings ensembles, in concerts and recitals.
The Canto Sentimento Trio began early in 2008 to accommodate smaller venues. The trio can be found playing in the Byward market more often then the Quartet.
We are also regularly provide a duet (violin and cello) and solo instruments for weddings and receptions.

Katherine grew up in a musical family and quickly chose the violin as her musical medium at the tender age of 5. She has studied with various violin teachers, such as Sylvie Rocheleau and Paule Préfontaine, and participated in the Ottawa Youth Orchestra Academy. Having always had a liking for diversity, she has explored different styles of music, going from jazz to folk to classical violin, as well as changing artistic mediums, from voice to theatre. She now performs with various groups and studies music at the University of Ottawa. Katherine is now looking forward to adopting many children and creating a family polka band. |
Violin Jolani Domitrovits | |

| Jolani was born into a family of musicians and was exposed to music at a young age. She began her studies on the piano at age four and soon began participating in numerous small performances. Throughout her childhood, Jolani was successful in both the Kiwanis Music Festival and Royal Conservatory of Music examinations. At twelve years of age, Jolani decided she would like to play the violin, making a career out of it. When she was 13, Jolani took up studies on the violin and passed through four Royal Conservatory grades in two years. Jolani later went on to study at the Canterbury High School for the Arts. Currently, Jolani is pursuing her violin studies at the University of Ottawa. She is actively involved in the music school scene in Ottawa and is committed to bringing music to people of all ages, just as it was brought to her. |

Viola Heather Bourne | |

Since beginning her musical studies in England on the violin, Heather turned her focus to the viola while studying with Nancy Eadie and Nancy Sturdevant. She is currently pursuing music at the University of Ottawa, where she studies with Rennie Regehr. A member of the Ottawa Symphony Orchestra since 2008, Heather has also performed with the National Youth Orchestra of Canada on its 2008 and 2009 tours. She was a member of the Ottawa Youth Orchestra, conducted by John Gomez, and has played with a number of Ottawa based orchestras and ensembles, including the Ottawa Chamber Orchestra, Junior Thirteen Strings and Divertimento Orchestra. Heather's chamber music experience comes from her studies at Domaine Forget, Music at Port Milford, and the Tuckamore Chamber Music Festival. Heather also teaches violin and viola. |
Cello Olivia Johnston | |

| Olivia began playing the cello at the age of 5, following in the footsteps of her musical siblings. Since then, she has participated in the Ottawa Youth Orchestra Academy, the Royal Academy of Music examinations, and the Kiwanis Music Festival; she has also performed with several chamber music ensembles, as well as attending music camps such as Studea Musica, camp CAMMAC, and Music at Port Milford. Olivia also attended Canterbury High School for music, where she performed in several assemblies and coffeehouses, as well as busking with other musically inclined friends. She is currently studying at the School of Photographic Arts Ottawa and plans to become a professional photographer. |
